Serve Our Community

Our vision statement compels us to "build a strong community and make the world a better place." Our focus is on our neighbors in need, often addressing hunger and homelessness as well as the needs of the elderly and disenfranchised. To this end, we do several congregational collections and special projects throughout the year, including collections of food, clothing, money, and more. In addition, groups within the congregation (e.g., Dorcas Rachel Women’s Group, Lutheran Youth Organization, aka LYO) facilitate many of their own special projects, for example assembling hygiene kits, or assisting in person at Loop Ministries.

We also engage in some year-round ministries. For example:

  • Accompanying a Refugee Family – Working with Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services, we have committed to accompany a refugee family living in Rochester as they get settled into their new home.
  • Quilting for a Cause – This group gathers monthly to create quilts that are sent to Lutheran World Relief.
  • Shelf at Pittsford Food Cupboard – Our women’s group has “adopted” a shelf at the Pittsford Food Cupboard and collects paper goods year-round to keep the shelf stocked.

We provide service opportunities and donations for our various ministry partners. To review our current collections and volunteer opportunities, click HERE.

Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services provides services and opportunities to assist refugee families with the transition to living in Rochester and encourage economic and social integration while maintaining their own cultural heritage.

We have committed to accompany the Mutombo family who have resettled to Rochester from the Democratic Republic of Congo as they get settled into their new home.
